Toot Your Horn Tuesday! Gold Stars and Demerits
I listen to a ton of different podcasts when I'm in the car. One that I listen to pretty regularly is Happier with Gretchen Ruben. She and her sister Liz host a weekly podcast. One of the things they talk about each episode - Gold Stars and Demerits. They each talk about something they get a gold star for and also something they kind of goofed up on or wish they had done better.
I think I'd like to make this a weekly thing here as well. Tell me one thing you're going to toot your horn about (giving yourself a gold star) and one thing you wish you'd done better (giving yourself a demerit) in the last week.
Gold Star...
If you know anything about me, you know I'm involved in no less than 94759734 things and always have a million things going on. Well.....I'm pretty proud of myself because I stepped down from a committee I was sort of bullied to be a part of. And it felt GOOD!!!
Demerit...
As many of you know, I'm diabetic. I had my checkup yesterday and my numbers were up. That, for sure, gets a demerit!
How about you? What's your gold star and demerit for the week?

It's Monday, Y'all
How was your weekend?
Friday and Saturday were rather uneventful. Just usual stuff. Hockey, basketball, baseball, hockey. Wash. Dry. Repeat.
Sunday was fun. Went to a fundraiser for one of our Homewood teams heading to Cooperstown in August. Super fun and we won THREE raffle baskets!
I have to work FIVE consecutive days this week. Let's see how this goes!

Two Tickets Tuesday
Two tickets. To see anyone. Anywhere.
Who are you seeing and who are you taking with you?
I feel like I shouldn't say Jimmy Buffett. I've seen him 28? maybe 29? times already. I have lots of other people I'd like to see, but I can't think of the "ultimate". So, Buffett it is. He plays a couple times a year in the islands. That's where I'm going. And I'm bringing Mr. Cal.

Monday - Semester 2
Happy Monday! Happy first day of the second semester!
How was your weekend? Mine was pretty uneventful, which was fine. I have a knee injury and I think I may have a torn ligament or something. I likely need an MRI and am hoping to get one today. If I'm not here at some point, that's where I'm at!
Busy week ahead! Lots to accomplish.

Inspiration/Motivation Thursday
Motivation? I ran across this the other day and I thought it was really good.
Do you have a saying or quote that keeps you going? What is it?
I have a couple...
1) Give it to God - Sometimes there just isn't anything you can do about something. It is what it is. That's when I just say...Give it to God.
2) Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On - it's a lyric from a Jimmy Buffett song about hurricane Katrina. Sometimes when things aren't going your way or you're upset about something....breathe in, breathe out, move on. This is one of my faves.
There are plenty more things out there that I see and I take note of, but those sort of stick with me.

Welcome, 2018!
Welcome back! How was your break?
Mine was fine. My Christmas was nice, my New Year's was fine Nothing overly exciting. Just there. It was just so damn cold. We really didn't do much of anything. I had all sorts of things in my mental agenda. I had Brookfield Zoo passes. I had Art Institute passes. Too cold. We went to the movies three times. Saw Star Wars, Ferdinand, and Pitch Perfect 3. I binged a couple of shows, which is not something I usually do.
So...that's about it. How about you?
My Multimedia classes are doing a 2018 New Year's Challenge. They have to come up with 15 things they would like to conquer in 2018. Here are mine....
1. Read 10 books
2. Go to the gym at least 4 times per week
3. A1C better (I'm a diabetic)
4. Spring Break
5. Summer Vacation Plans
6. Meatless Monday
7. Christmas Vacation Plans
8. Shiplap Living Room Wall
9. Paint my back room
10. 10 hours of Professional Development
11. Stick to my weekly plan
12. Pay off one of my credit cards
13. Walk 80K steps per week
14. Build a terrarrium
15. Clean out my attic
